Sunday Satsang at Ananda is inspired by the meditation tradition of the East and the ancient teachings of mystical Christianity, with inspirational readings from both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. Service includes music, group chanting and meditation.
Vidura and Durga Smallen are founding members of Ananda. As Lightbearers, they have had various roles as managers of Ananda Worldwide, of Ananda Village, helping out in the fields of Kriya, membership, pilgrimages to India, overall general management, and much more.
Durga and Vidura came to Ananda in 1974, after searching for two years for a community that would embrace spiritual principles, schools, and a new way of life.
In 1980 they were asked to manage a community called Ocean Song near Santa Rosa. Upon returning, Durga served in the Ananda Schools for two years before they became first the managers of the Expanding Light and then the Village Community Managers and General Managers of Ananda Worldwide which allowed them to visit Ananda communities and meditation groups all over the United States and Assisi, Italy..
From 1986 through 2006 they led month-long pilgrimages to India with Asha and David Praver and in 2006 moved to India as part of the staff there to helping to create with Swami Kriyananda and others a new center there for Master.
After one year in Portland, OR, and two years in LA, in 2013 they were asked to take over the management of the Meditation Retreat where they are still serving today.
